Plants are such fun alien beings. I especially love the novel reproduction methods that some plants have developed. Mountain mahogany is probably one of the weirdest, but milkweed and bindweed and mushrooms are also pretty wild.
Yeah, those mushrooms are crazy! We have a dead tree in the backyard, and for about a week this summer, a giant clump of fruiting bodies sprang up around the roots, only to die back after a few days. The kids were fascinated by it.
