Brothers in Exile: Book 1 of the Sons of the Starfarers series

What This Book Is About

Brothers in Exile is the first book in the Sons of the Starfarers series, a frontier space opera adventure about two refugee brothers trying to survive on the edge of known space. Isaac and Aaron Deltana are young Outworld starfarers aboard the family ship Medea, searching for trade, purpose, and a future after famine destroys their home colony and scatters their family. When they discover a dead station in the Far Outworlds and rescue a mysterious young woman frozen in cryostasis, their ordinary trade run becomes a moral responsibility neither brother can easily walk away from.

The story blends small-ship science fiction, refugee survival, brotherhood drama, derelict-space-station mystery, and resistance-against-empire space opera. As Isaac tries to protect Aaron from danger and Aaron struggles to step out of his older brother’s shadow, the brothers are pulled into the growing conflict between independent Outworld starfarers and the expanding Gaian Empire. This is a strong fit for readers who enjoy character-driven space opera about ordinary spacers caught in the first sparks of interstellar war, with themes of family loyalty, exile, freedom, moral duty, and the cost of choosing a side.
