1,673 words tonight

Man, it’s been a busy week–and a busy weekend!  The days are really flying by, and it seems like I’ve got a hundred more things to do than I’m capable of doing.  To complicate things, probably the biggest stress on me right now is finishing this novel…

I think I can finish it by April 25th…I hope that I can…I know that I seriously have a chance that I can…but I’m really anxious that I won’t.  And this is a really important goal to me, too.  Kind of like a place where I’m taking my last stand.  I always fail to accomplish my other goals, but this one…this one is different.

For that reason, this past week has really stressed me out.  I just haven’t had the time to write.  I think I put in at least something every day, but most days it was well under 1,000 words.  On Thursday, when I had that really huge poli sci paper, it was only like ten.

But today was different.  Today I secluded myself in the FLSR laundry room and chugged out 1,673 words in an hour.  To my surprise, it actually came kind of easy.  I think the reason was that there weren’t other people around.  Earlier in the week, I would stop by the capitol house, hoping to get my writing in there…and then I’d get distracted by hanging out with all my friends.

So, what did I learn?  The best way to write is to put as much distance between yourself and other people as you can!

There was a ton of other cool stuff that happened.  I had Easter dinner with my sister’s fiance’s family.  There was a quark writing group on Saturday, and that was fun.  I read some genuinely interesting academic articles for PLSC 310, all about bureaucracy, how it forms, how it evolves and grows, and how it leads to the fall of empires.  I finished Twilight.  I saw Spirited Away (awesome movie!  I <3 Miyazaki!).

And besides all that, I just had a general good time.  Life is good.

Sorry I don’t have anything particularly cool to link to.  Next time.
