Sorry for neglecting the blog this week. \u00a0I took a temp job to earn some cash, and that’s been sucking up most of my time lately. \u00a0Fortunately, it should be over sometime next week.<\/p>\n
In the meantime, I found a place to live for the next few months. \u00a0I’m in the basement of an old house, rooming with a former classmate from Brandon Sanderson’s English 318 class. \u00a0So far, it’s actually been pretty awesome. \u00a0The rent is dirt cheap and you get what you pay for, but there aren’t any rats and the heater works fine. \u00a0It should be a good place to spend the winter.<\/p>\n
Progress on\u00a0Stars of Blood and Glory<\/strong> has slowed down somewhat, mostly due to the temp work, but it’s still coming along steadily. \u00a0If all goes well, I’ll have it polished and sent out to my editor by the end of next week, which leaves only the cover art to figure out. \u00a0I’m going all out for this one, just like I did with\u00a0Desert Stars<\/strong> and\u00a0Bringing Stella Home<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Also, I just (re)started\u00a0Lifewalker<\/strong>, a post-apocalyptic novel previously titled\u00a0The Chronicles of Lifewalker<\/em>. \u00a0I know, I should be putting more time into getting\u00a0Stars of Blood and Glory<\/strong> ready for publication, but this project has been begging to be written since 2011. \u00a0I wrote a first chapter two years ago, but the narrative voice wasn’t working too well. \u00a0Basically, I was trying too hard to imitate 19th century prose without having read enough to know how to do it well. \u00a0Instead, I decided to toss all that stuff out and write the dang story without being overly restrictive. \u00a0I think it’s going to turn out well. Blah blah blah oh did I mention that I checked out a couple of David Gemmell books from the Provo Library? \u00a0Well, I did. \u00a0They are the last two books in the Drenai series that I haven’t read, and I am soooo excited to sink my teeth into them. \u00a0Just started\u00a0The First Chronicles of Druss the Legend<\/em> last night, and it is AMAZING. \u00a0Expect to see a review here soon.<\/p>\n Speaking of which, I should probably reread\u00a0Wool<\/em> and review it sometime. \u00a0Hugh Howey really took the publishing world by storm last year, and he’s doing some truly amazing things for indie writers. \u00a0His books are great, too–definitely worth picking one up.<\/p>\n That’s just about all right now. \u00a0I’ll probably put in another hour of writing\/revising, then turn in for the night. \u00a0Later!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Sorry for neglecting the blog this week. \u00a0I took a temp job to earn some cash, and that’s been sucking up most of my time lately. \u00a0Fortunately, it should be over sometime next week.
