{"id":4297,"date":"2011-02-16T01:08:35","date_gmt":"2011-02-16T08:08:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.onelowerlight.com\/writing\/?p=4297"},"modified":"2011-02-16T01:08:35","modified_gmt":"2011-02-16T08:08:35","slug":"writing-update-getting-ready-for-ltue-katniss-must-die","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onelowerlight.com\/writing\/writing-update-getting-ready-for-ltue-katniss-must-die\/","title":{"rendered":"Writing update, getting ready for LTUE, &#038; Katniss must DIE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So I&#8217;m back at work at WAFH, making slow but steady progress.\u00a0 At this point, I&#8217;m throwing out about half of what&#8217;s on the page and redrafting stuff to fill in the gaps, but that&#8217;s only going to increase.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not particularly hard, but it does take a lot out of me.\u00a0 I&#8217;m finding that I can write for about two or three hours before my creativity runs dry.\u00a0 When I&#8217;m spending more time online or playing games and less time focusing on the story, that&#8217;s a sign that it&#8217;s time to do something else to refill the well.<\/p>\n<p>Man, I wish that well would stay full for longer&#8230;but in the meantime, 2.5k words per day isn&#8217;t so bad.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll take it.<\/p>\n<p>In unrelated news, I&#8217;m currently about a third of the way through <em>The Hunger Games<\/em> and I <strong>hate<\/strong> the main character, Katniss.\u00a0 She&#8217;s a total attention whore, and fits all the classic characteristics of a Mary Sue.\u00a0 A tortured past, a heart of gold, ridiculously well skilled, beloved by everyone and romantically irresistible, even to her enemies&#8230;blegh!\u00a0 I hope she dies or gets tortured beyond all humanity.<\/p>\n<p>In spite of this, I&#8217;ll probably finish the novel, just because it&#8217;s been such an influential bestselling title&#8211;as a writer, I&#8217;ve got to do my research.\u00a0 However, I don&#8217;t see myself finishing the series.\u00a0 There are other reasons why I don&#8217;t particularly like this book, but I&#8217;ll wait until a later post to articulate them.<\/p>\n<p>In other unrelated news, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ltue.org\/LTUE_2011.html\">LTUE 2011<\/a> is coming up, and I am so freaking excited for it!\u00a0 Here are the panels I definitely plan on attending:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thurdsay<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>9:00 am:<br \/>\n&#8211; Best and worst writing advice ever given<br \/>\n(Anna del C Dye (M), Mette Ivie Harrison, Tyler Whitsides, Frank L.
