I had a chat with Aneeka yesterday about writing.\u00a0 She was in London waiting to catch the bus to Scotland at around 4:00 am or so (jealous!), and I was winding down a frustratingly unproductive day.<\/p>\n
I told her how I’m trying to divide my attention between two different projects, and she had some interesting things to say.\u00a0 Basically, she said that if it isn’t working and I’m not getting as much done as I’d like, I should put one project on hold and focus on the other one.<\/p>\n
Duh.\u00a0 Of course<\/em> that’s the answer.\u00a0 Trouble is, I’ve been so focused on doing things this way that I haven’t seen it.<\/p>\n So, before this weekend is up, I need to take a step back and figure out just what I’m going to do.\u00a0 Splitting my attention between two projects really isn’t working at all for me, and if I keep going at this rate I doubt I’ll be half finished with either one by the end of the semester.\u00a0 Definitely time for an adjustment.<\/p>\n Besides figuring out what I want to do with my writing, I also need to 1) send in my absentee ballot (I’m still somewhat undecided, though Colin Powell’s endorsement of Obama<\/a> has almost cinched it for me); 2) read Homer’s The Odyssey <\/em>and write a paper comparing Odysseus to Socrates…for Tuesday (this isn’t as bad as it seems though–The Odyssey<\/em> is a really<\/em> interesting story and I’ve enjoyed it a lot so far); 3) get cracking on Tales from the Thousand and One Nights<\/em>, since I’ve got a book report due in a week and a half, and; 4) various other assorted homeworks.\u00a0 Blegh!<\/p>\n Oh, and I haven’t asked anyone out on a date in the past month.\u00a0 Haven’t even thought about it, really.\u00a0 Dang.\u00a0 How did time start moving so fast?\u00a0 The semester is more than half over!<\/p>\n At least I got in a thousand words in Hero in Exile<\/em> today.\u00a0 That, and I’ve been working through the next few scenes in my mind quite a bit.\u00a0 I think I know where I want to take it, even though it has nothing to do with what I wrote down in the plot outline.\u00a0 I’m excited.<\/p>\n And tired.\u00a0 More tomorrow.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" I had a chat with Aneeka yesterday about writing.\u00a0 She was in London waiting to catch the bus to Scotland at around 4:00 am or so (jealous!), and I was winding down a frustratingly unproductive day.
