{"id":161,"date":"2008-02-12T02:02:55","date_gmt":"2008-02-12T09:02:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.onelowerlight.com\/writing\/?p=161"},"modified":"2008-02-12T02:02:55","modified_gmt":"2008-02-12T09:02:55","slug":"4000-words-in-two-days-and-the-universal-law-of-awkwardness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onelowerlight.com\/writing\/4000-words-in-two-days-and-the-universal-law-of-awkwardness\/","title":{"rendered":"4,000 words in two days, and the universal law of awkwardness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yep.\u00a0 4,000 words in two days&#8211;2,100 yesterday for the wormhole story, and 1,900 today for <em>The Lost Colony<\/em>.\u00a0 Both stories are progressing very, very well.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a lot of fun to write in them both.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Yesterday I wrote this scene in <em>The Wormhole Paradigm<\/em> where the two characters go into and come out of cryo, and that was just really fun.\u00a0 Talking about how going into cryo-hibernation is like death, and how coming out of it is this really painful experience.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t know, but it was way fun.<\/p>\n<p>Today I wrote this one scene in <em>The Lost Colony<\/em>, which I may end up taking out or significantly shortening, since a lot of the info is redundant, but after about an hour of writing I finished the scene, checked the wordcount, and wow!\u00a0 Nearly 1,900 words!<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m finding that as <em>The Lost Colony<\/em> comes to a close, it&#8217;s actually getting easier and easier to write.\u00a0 I have an idea what the ending will be, but scenes still pop up as I&#8217;m writing and surprise me.\u00a0 There is a lot of action now, and I feel that I have a handle on these characters, even though I&#8217;ll probably have to go back and characterize them better at the beginning.\u00a0 I can see how it&#8217;s going to come to an end and I&#8217;m eager to get there!<\/p>\n<p>And now, to close this post, a little bit about what I call the universal law of awkwardness.\u00a0 Have you ever noticed that when you like someone in a non-platonic way, weird things happen when you&#8217;re around them?\u00a0 I&#8217;m not talking about how you feel or anything&#8211;I mean that you start dropping things or bumping into things (or bumping into each other), or just other general clumsiness.<\/p>\n<p>It seems that there&#8217;s just this law of the universe that the net clumsiness of a pair of people is inversely proportionate to the level of attraction between them.\u00a0 Awkward things just happen.\u00a0 It&#8217;s kind of funny.<\/p>\n<p>I won&#8217;t tell any stories, since I know who reads this blog. \ud83d\ude09 (watch everyone have a different interpretation of that!)
