Instantly, the door swung open. A pair of small hands reached under his arms and pulled him up. He stumbled to his feet and half-fell inside. A dim green overhead light protected by a wire cage revealed the person who\u2019d been waiting for him.<\/p>\n

Reva<\/em>.<\/p>\n

He had only a momentary glimpse of her dark, round eyes before the door clicked shut and the light switched off. Immediately, her body was pressed against his, her arms pulling him tight in a desperate embrace. She pulled his head down and kissed him with all the passion of someone who expected to die.<\/p>\n

\u201cReva\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n

A wave of dizziness swept over him as he melted into her embrace. She took a quick breath and went in for another kiss, preventing him from speaking. He could feel the contours of her body against his, her full, round breasts pressing up against his chest. After slaving away for so long under such miserable conditions, it gave him a heady rush that almost made him swoon.<\/p>\n

Careful<\/em>, he thought inwardly. Control yourself.<\/em><\/p>\n

But the longer they embraced, the harder it was to exercise self-restraint. A hunger deep within him stirred, and a host of unmet needs rose quickly to\u2014<\/p>\n

\u201cAre they gone?\u201d<\/p>\n

Isaac took a deep breath and pressed his mouth against the smooth, warm skin of her neck. She aroused him more than he thought possible, but using all the self-control he had left, he stopped and pulled away from her.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are alone?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think so.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reva released him and leaned back against the equipment lockers, though in the narrow confines of the maintenance closet she was still close enough to touch.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday a man died,\u201d Reva began in her sensuous foreign accent. In the last two months of their captivity, she had become surprisingly proficient at Gaian, picking up the language with relative ease. It was clear that the pirates regarded her much more highly than they did him.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy airlock,\u201d she answered, clearly shaken by what she\u2019d seen. \u201cGulchina spaced him in front of everyone. It was terrible.\u201d<\/p>\n

He put a hand on her shoulder to comfort her. Though he yearned for more physical contact than that, he was careful to keep it contained.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sorry,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHow soon we can escape?\u201d<\/p>\n
