This YouTuber has some very strong opinions. I don’t agree with all of her videos, but her arguments are always solid, so it’s always interesting to hear what she has to say.
On this issue, though, I agree with her almost completely. Almost all romantasy is porn, and its meteoric rise is a plague on fantasy books and literature.
I watched this video last week, and I agree with her on this one. I just want to read my fantasy without feeling the need to bleach my eyes afterward, you know?
Yeah, it’s frustrating. And I heard that Sarah J. Maas insisted on keeping all of the smut in her books, even though her plan was to market the series heavily through middle school visits. So basically, she wrote porn with the full intention of marketing it to minors—which of course has gone very well for her, since once they were addicted, they became loyal longtime readers. But it’s just as sick as Kim Kardashian’s mom screening the multiple takes of her first sex tape in order to determine the best one to release and launch her career.
