Man, I am so close to finishing this novel! I’m at the last part of the last chapter, with the closing scene and the last viewpoint. Man! I’m going to finish it tomorrow!
In other news, my sister Sarah just got married, I packed all my junk and put it in storage, and I’m getting REALLY excited and nervous for this trip to Cairo–the plane leaves Saturday!
I’d write more, but it’s very late and I’m tired. Definitely write tomorrow.

The blog is going to be all about my study abroad experience in the Middle East this summer. I’m going to pattern after my sister’s blog, which IMO is one of the best blogs I’ve ever read.
This means, however, that I probably won’t be updating this blog as often as I have been this past semester. Rather than write about all the crazy off-the-wall things that happen in my life here, I’ll probably take them there.
I do plan on keeping this blog semi active, however, because I still plan on keeping a rigorous writing schedule. The goal is going to be significantly smaller, however: 2,000 words per week instead of 1,000 words per day.
Did I mention my new blog? Check it out, add it to your google newsreaders / blog aggregators, link back to me please, and I’ll probably link back to you as well! And in four days, if I can find an internet connection, I’ll be blogging from Cairo, Egypt!
Yep, that’s right! This past Thursday I sent off the first three chapters plus a synopsis to Tor for them to consider! It was all part of the English 318 final. And…I’m not exactly sure how I feel about sending it out just yet…
Yeah, it was a really good day today. I didn’t make any progress in the last few chapters of my novel, but I did revise the first 25 pages of my novel for the English 318 final. Now, I just need to find a place where I can safely submit it…
Wow. Only a week away from my goal to finish this novel…
Well, not quite yet. There’s still exams. But no more classes!!! Yay! I’m so relieved!
It’s been so awesome to have free time again. Unfortunately, these past two days I’ve squandered it quite a bit, and haven’t written a whole lot. I changed that today, though, and wrote about 1,440 words. Still…man, only about a week before my deadline. I’m going to have to work hard to do this…
But I’m totally going to make it! And once I do, it’s going to prove so much! It’s going to be great!
…and now I have to go to bed.
It might sound kind of crazy, but now that I’m almost finished with this novel, I’m starting to figure out what it’s really about…
Two weeks from this moment I’m going to be in a plane over the Atlantic ocean heading to Cairo. How cool is that?!
Definitely an order of magnitude cooler than writing this paper.
As in I really, really, REALLY don’t want to write it.
The class was good, and the stuff we learned was interesting (and even profoundly compelling at times), but the grading is arbitrary, the class didn’t present itself as a challenge, and I’ve already written one final paper this week. One freaking fantastic final paper that is going to rock my other teacher’s world (or at least break a 90, inshallah)!
But yeah, I’ve got this paper due at 4:30 pm on Monday…and I haven’t written the first word yet (though I’ve written the bibliography and cover page)…and I’ve barely got my thesis argument figured out in my mind…
All I really want to do is write in my novel!
