Jupiter and Io
Last night, I went up in the mountains with a group from BYU's astronomy club for a star party. It was AWESOME! We saw the spiral arms of the whirlpool galaxy (M51), the individual stars in the Hercules cluster (M13), the galactic core of the Andromeda galaxy, and the bands and moons of Jupiter! So much fun! I took this picture by holding up my camera to the eyepiece of one of the smaller telescopes. It doesn't show things in as much detail as we were seeing them, but at least you can see the cloud bands of Jupiter and its moon, Io.
