Basalt Road
Basalt Road
This is a shot from Abila, which I visited this weekend with some friends. It's a set of ruins WAY out of the way between Irbid and Um Qais. Nothing is marked unless the fenced in stuff (and it's not hard to jump the fence), there are no tourists, and hardly anything is excavated but what is excavated is really cool, like this almost completely intact basalt road. There are TONS of caves all over the wadi and most of these contain Byzantine tombs, frescoes, and bones. WAY cool.
