These native guys in the galabiyas are all over all of the ruins and sites in Luxor. Their official job, I think, is to make sure that nobody touches the walls and the carvings, but a lot of times they'll try and do little things to get baqsheesh (tips), like offer to take your picture or show you something cool and interesting.
