Choose to Give is this thing that BYU does each semester to encourage students to give back to the university. It's actually a really important thing. BYU gets funded from tithing, but not a lot from alumni. The main source of income they rely on is from big donors who give hundreds of thousands (or even millions) of dollars per donation. These guys also have less of an incentive to give because they're not very likely to get a building named after them (most of the buildings are named after general authorities). The big thing that usually convinces donors to give (or so I've heard) is whether or not students themselves donate. From what I've heard, it's not how much the students give that they're interested, but how many students actually give anything. So, it's a good thing every time they do this drive to give at least a couple of bucks. I donated what I had in my wallet at the time ($4). Plus, if you do it through the college of social, home and family science, your donation will be matched 5 to 1. Good job!
