I was in church today, and as I was walking around downstairs, I noticed something funny about the ward bulletin board. Massachusetts is more than a thousand miles away from BYU, but they still have advertisements for BYU and other church schools! The one that caught my eye was the flier for BYU Independent Study. Not everyone around here graduated from BYU, not even in the church. Still, it's good that BYU offers it. And it makes sense: it's a church school that's funded partially by tithing. It exists to serve the members of the church, so it's nice to see that even on the other side of the country, BYU has an influence.
